AUSTIN - Lauren Romines brought home the first place
medal from the 2A state golf tournament this week. Her two day
score of 69-75 144 bested future college teammate Kendra Whittley of
Wall by two strokes. Taylor Klutts finished her high school career
with a 4th place finish firing a solid 72-79 151. Taylor will join
Lauren and Kendra at Midwestern next year. The Callisburg team of Romines, Klutts, Morgan McKenzie, Tara Wescoat, and Shelby Potz-Nielsen finished in second place 22 strokes behind first place Wall. Congratulations Ladies!!! Great job!!! Click here to view article from the Sherman Herald-Democrat

STEPHENVILLE - The Callisburg girls golf team had a great
showing at the regional golf tournament. After the opening
round on Monday the White team was in first place and the Maroon team
was in third only seven strokes out of second place behind Melissa.
On day 2 the Lady Cats continued their fine play. The White team ended up in first place while the Maroon team finished in third, only 12 strokes behind second place Melissa. Taylor Klutts finished in second place shooting 74-77 151. Lauren Romines finished tied for third with 75-79 154. She beat Melissa golfer Macie Seeker in the third place playoff. The Lady Cats traveled close to home last Thursday to play in the Denison invitational. The Lady Cat golfers fought blistering winds and extremely fast greens to post another good number as a team. Callisburg's "B" team pulled off the big upset coming in 2nd right behind the "A" team. "It doesn't happen very often when your young kids beat other teams' varsity. It is a tribute to the practice and hard work going in with this group. The older kids are great role models on how you have to practice and prepare to be successful. I'm really proud of these young ladies." says Randy Romines, Callisburg golf coach. TOP 5 TEAMS

MUENSTER -- The Callisburg girls golf team took two of the top three spots at the Muenster Invitational at Turtle Hill Golf Course on Monday afternoon. The Callisburg White team was first with a score of 353, 50 shots ahead of Sanger and 53 ahead of the Callisburg Maroon team. S&S was sixth and Celina placed 10th. Taylor Klutts of Callisburg had the low round of 76 while teammate Lauren Romines shot an 80. Texoma Christian's Megan Dutton finished with a 90 to take fourth place, one shot ahead of S&S' Kenzie Daniels. |

Ponder Invitational Golf Tournament The Callisburg Lady Cats golf team claimed their 3rd consecutive team championship at Gainesville Municipal Golf Course. The young ladies used the warm temperatures to shoot a season low 341 (the second best round shot in 2A this year). Taylor Klutts used a great short game to ground out a 73 and claim the individual championship. Lauren Romines followed her up teammate with 2nd place 83. Tara Wescoat finished 6th and Morgan McKenzie 7th while Blair Cassidy rounded out the top ten. “We are progressing at the pace we need to at this point. The girls know we have to keep practicing if they want to realize their dream of a state championship” say Randy Romines. “Taylor had a fantastic day and is becoming a name to be reckoned with throughout the whole state”.
